The Original Dirtbags
Growing Truffles & Flowers Since 2019
Duck Duck Pig is a mixed farming enterprise that began in 2019. Set in the beautiful drought susceptible non-fertile Rowsley Valley, just an hour’s drive North West of Melbourne. We farm cut flowers, truffles and small scale angus cattle as well as sharing the property with the public for curated events and workshops.
Whilst we take our farming seriously; and have been on a steep learning curve, we don’t take ourselves too seriously….you won’t find too many clichéd photos of us in Akubra’s and RM Williams on this website.
Our journey ultimately started with one fateful google search…….”What grows in shit soil?”
Truffles
Our 400 Oak tree Truffle Orchard was planted in 2020, with “Gravy” our Truffle Dog sniffing out our First French “Black” Truffle in 2024. Australian Truffle season is in winter from June through to August and during the season, whilst we hunt on our own orchard, our dogs are also contracted to visit other truffle farms and find truffles.
Cut Flowers
17 acres of Duck Duck Pig are now under flower and we grow a mixture of wildflowers and natives for the cut flower industry. All of our flowers are grown chemical free and we harvest from February through to December. We Sell Online, Through our Flower Cart (roadside stall) at the farm and direct to florists, wholesalers or private buyers.
Events & Workshops
Duck Duck Pig hosts a number of events and workshops of interest throughout the year. From Farm tours to on site photo shoots as well as welcoming community groups, we are committed to farming people just as much as we farm truffles and flowers. We feel an obligation to share this wonderful place with others.
Our Philosophy
At Duck Duck Pig, we try to keep chemical usage low and soil health high. We are applying regenerative agriculture practices to guide what we do and aim to be as sustainable as possible. We aim to work with the seasons and by working with nature we hope to grow stronger plants, better flowers, and the best French Black Truffles this side of the Dordogne.
